Chef Benito Cantoran, a North Carolina award winning chef curating Mexican cuisine with a Southern twang for over a decade. Raised in the small town of Wagram NC, he worked as a farm hand in the fields cleaning tabaco, soy, and corn. 
His passion for food started with sowing seeds of Milpa, strawberries and butchering deer, cleaning fowl, or frying fish caught in the waters of the Lumbee River.
Starting as a dishwasher at a bustling sports bar, Benni worked his way up to become lead line cook, sous chef and eventually a Chef Owner at his flagship restaurant, Azotea Cafe y Cocina.
Awarded as Southern Pines best Taco and Peoples Champion at another taco competition, Benni aims to continue claiming names and accolades for his self proclaimed SurMex style cooking.
